ok, I went ahead and put it on one of smackjeeves' custom templates until I can figure out where I went wrong. Thank you so much for pointing out that it wasn't working! I had no idea.

No problem :) it didn't work in firefox, explorer or google chrome, but now it works fine in all three.

thanks so much for checking it in all of those, I really appreciate it! The only other browser I had was firefox, so that's good to know.
